Classic car enthusiasts need no introduction to the Volkswagen Beetle. After all, the model was produced from 1938 to 2003, and virtually everyone will have seen plenty of Beetles on the roads during their younger years.
Over this exceptionally long production run, the Beetle naturally underwent numerous technical and cosmetic upgrades. The Beetle 1300 offered by Classic Park dates from 1972 and is therefore equipped with the 1,285 cc engine introduced in 1965 alongside the 1,200 cc unit. It also benefits from the various updates to the rear window, headlights, taillights and bumpers that gave the car a noticeably fresher appearance during the 1960s.
This Beetle is also a Weltmeister edition. In February 1972, Volkswagen produced the 15,007,034th Beetle, overtaking the Ford Model T to become the most-produced car in the world. Volkswagen marked this milestone by introducing the special Weltmeister edition, of which just 6,000 examples were built. The Weltmeister was not simply a Beetle 1300 fitted with an optional equipment package, but a distinctive special edition in its own right, making it a genuine collector’s item.
The Weltmeister edition can be identified by its special Weltmeister badges, various interior details, unique upholstery, distinctive sports wheels and metallic paintwork. Marathon Blue metallic is the best-known and most sought-after colour. This Beetle comes with a Volkswagen certificate confirming its authenticity as an original Weltmeister edition.
The example offered by Classic Park is an originally Dutch-delivered car that has been partially restored and is in good condition.
