The first generation Boxster was introduced in 1996. At the end of 2009, its successor arrived: the second generation Boxster, which clearly sported a more muscular look. Although the entire car was completely redesigned, the newly styled front end really stands out. The headlights now better match the latest Porsche design language and have become a distinctive feature for both the Boxster and Cayman series.
This 987 series was expanded with a striking lightweight model, the Spyder, inspired by the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. The weight savings were mainly achieved through the use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon, lightweight bucket seats, and a lighter soft top. Inside, the red door pulls immediately catch your eye, a neat and sporty detail.
The soft top is not only lighter but also spectacular to see. One downside of the design is that driving over 200 km/h with the roof closed is not recommended. But if you remove the top at those speeds, you’ll stay dry nonetheless…
The 987 Spyder at Classic Park is special in many ways, starting with its color. Out of the 1,944 units produced, most came in black, red, or silver. The cream-white shade is very rare, making this car a fantastic sight, especially paired with the black 19-inch wheels and red brake calipers. Almost half of all Spyders were shipped to the USA, but this one is an original European delivery.
This Spyder also features a highly sought-after 6-speed manual gearbox, a must-have for true Porsche enthusiasts. Inside, you’ll find carbon-fiber Clubsport seats upholstered in a dream combination of half leather, half Alcantara. Other great features include air conditioning, navigation, a sports exhaust, parking sensors, a sound pack, Bi-Xenon headlights, and Bluetooth.
Over time, the car has been upgraded with a Sport Design steering wheel, a LoJack pulse transmitter, a stinger, a lightweight cupholder next to the passenger seat, and custom floor mats matching the interior color.
The Porsche was originally delivered new in 2011 by Porsche Gelderland to the Dutch collector and dealer Peter de Pous. Initially, the car was registered with German plates, with the first registration date of January 13, 2011, likely due to BPM tax reasons. Apparently, it quickly found a buyer, because the Spyder was registered in the Netherlands as early as April 29, 2011. This owner is listed as the first in the official documentation.
Since then, all maintenance has been carried out by Porsche specialists, ensuring the car has been very well cared for. The Spyder comes with a large amount of history, photos, invoices, as well as various booklets, manuals, and brochures.
