A striking feature of the 230 SL Pagode is the arched hardtop, which is reminiscent of the architecture of East Asian temples. This shape has led to the well-known nickname “Pagode”. The hardtop is present in this car and is finished in the colour black.
Not only the hardtop is special about this car, this Pagode is also equipped with an automatic gearbox, power steering, a third seat and extensive maintenance and enthusiast documentation. The car has remained within the same family for the last 23 years. It has been driven regularly for pleasure rides and the car has been kept in excellent condition. Almost all maintenance has been carried out by the renowned Mercedes-Benz specialists Van Dijk from Lisserbroek and before that by the then Mercedes-Benz dealer HAC from Helmond. In this period, in addition to the regular major maintenance services, work was carried out such as a complete engine overhaul in 2002, replacing the dynamo in 2009, a steering gear overhaul in 2019, replacing the injection pump valves in 2020, a major service in 2022 with maintenance on the heating system and the installation of three-point seat belts, and a minor service in 2024 with replacement of the master brake cylinder.
The 230 SL Pagode was one of the first sports cars with a focus on safety. The car was given a crumple zone and a sturdy safety cage. The model was also given independent rear suspension, which ensured good driving characteristics.
The car is in very good condition.
