The Panther J72 was built by Panther Westwinds Ltd of Weybridge, England. This company was founded and led by Robert Jankel who became widely known in the eighties for his collaboration with Rolls-Royce for building stretched limousines. The J72 was the first production model of the Panther brand. The first examples were delivered in 1973. 368 J72s were built, of which 177 with the 4.2 liter engine. Production ended in 1981. The J72 was built with Jaguar techniques. The one at Classic Park is from 1974 and has the 4.2 liter 6-cylinder Jaguar engine. The car is very complete, with loose covers, two insert windows, spoked wheels with wheel wrench, and so on. Under the bonnet is a plate on which the first owner is mentioned. That was ‘Mr. & Mrs. Griffin’. It was not until 2003 that the car was sold to its second owner and imported into the Netherlands. The Panther has only had two owners in total.
Although the J72 was initially regarded as a replica of the Jaguar SS100, it was purchased by many celebrities and the Panther has now turned out to be a coveted classic. The low seating position, low weight and large engine make the J72 a fast and exclusive car. Especially this one, which is in very nice original condition. All covers are present with the car. In addition, the car has a very extensive historical file with maintenance notes, valuation reports, brochures, event reports, and so on.
