When the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq Company collapsed in 1935, it was acquired by the British Rootes Group. The Sunbeam Talbot Ten was one of the first cars that was introduced after this acquisition. The mid-range car was produced from 1938-1939, and after the Second World War from 1945-1948. The model was available as a four-door saloon, sports tourer and convertible. The Sunbeam-Talbot Ten was actually a more elegantly styled version of the existing Talbot Ten and the previously by the Rootes Group developed Hillman Aero Minx chassis. This chassis was equipped with semi-elliptic leaf springs at the front and rear and had a four-cylinder, 1185 cc, engine that produced 38 hp at 4500 rpm. The four-speed gearbox had synchromesh on the top three gears.
