The Porsche 911 Type 964 was introduced in 1988 as the successor to the 911 G-Series, which had been in production since 1974. The 964 represented the first major evolution of the 911 in more than a decade. While it remained true to the iconic 911 design philosophy, it introduced significant technical and stylistic advancements. According to Porsche, approximately 85% of the car was newly developed compared to its predecessor.

The 964 debuted as the Carrera 4, becoming the first Porsche 911 to feature all-wheel drive. One year later, the rear-wheel-drive Carrera 2 was added to the range. Power came from a revised version of Porsche's air-cooled flat-six engine, enlarged to 3.6 litres. The 964 was also the first 911 to feature power steering and ABS as standard equipment. Improved aerodynamics were achieved through more integrated bumpers and lighting, while an automatically deploying rear spoiler was introduced. The 964 was also the first 911 to offer dual airbags. It was available as a Coupé, Cabriolet, Targa, and later as a Speedster.

This particular Porsche 911 (964) was delivered new in Germany on 16 January 1991. It was ordered in the elegant and timeless colour Night Blue Metallic (L37W), complemented by a black leather interior. This sophisticated colour combination suits the 964 exceptionally well. The car was also specified with the highly desirable electrically operated steel sunroof, an option that is especially sought after today.

The first owner lived in Cologne and maintained the car meticulously from new. Since January 1999, the Porsche has been owned by enthusiasts in the Netherlands, who have continued its careful maintenance. The original service book contains 12 official service stamps, the most recent of which was recorded just 1,500 km ago. More recently, the engine underwent extensive mechanical work, including a complete cylinder head overhaul and the installation of upgraded cylinder head studs. The accompanying documentation includes a comprehensive file of maintenance invoices, several valuation reports, and the original German-language owner's manual.

The current owner has fitted the car with a sporty Sparco steering wheel and RS-style front bumper air intakes. The original steering wheel and the white front bumper reflectors have been retained and are included with the car. The white "Porsche" side decals have been added recently and can easily be removed if a more original appearance is preferred.
