The Porsche 356 B T6 is the final and most highly developed version of the 356 B, produced in 1962 and 1963. The T6 version can be recognised by the two ventilation grilles in the engine lid (the T5 had only one) and the external fuel filler flap located in the right front wing. The T6 also features an enlarged front luggage compartment.
On 18 April 1962, this Porsche was delivered new to Hülpert & Co in Dortmund, Germany. Since October 2019, the car has been registered in the Netherlands, where it has had just one owner.
The car was fully restored by its Dutch owner and refinished in its original colour, Signal Red. The bodywork features beautifully aligned panels with excellent shut lines. The mechanical components have also received attention. At some point in the past, the engine was replaced, possibly by Porsche itself, with an engine from a Porsche 356 C. The original 6-volt electrical system has also been converted to 12 volts, significantly enhancing ease of use.
The Porsche 356 was Porsche’s first production car, introduced in 1948. By the time the 356 B T6 appeared, the model had evolved considerably, and this is evident in every aspect of the car. The controls are intuitive and predictable, making the Porsche easy to drive. It is no coincidence that the 356 remains such a popular choice for classic car tours and vintage rallies.
