The Renault 4CV is undoubtedly one of the cutest cars ever sold. It has an irresistible charm that often draws thumbs-up from people who spot it on the street. Despite its compact size - 3.60 meters long, 1.43 meters wide, and 1.48 meters tall - it surprisingly offers plenty of interior space, comfortably seating four adults.
Back in the day, the 4CV came in three versions: the “Standard,” the “Luxe,” and the “Grand Luxe Décapotable.” The Décapotable, also known as the Découvrable, is the convertible version of the 4CV. This top Grand Luxe trim came standard with many special extras like a fabric soft top, a roadside fog lamp, numerous chrome trims, automatic interior lighting, fuel and temperature gauges, an optional floor-mounted gearshift, leather upholstery, and moquette carpeting.
It was possible to purchase a single-wheel trailer from specialized suppliers. Such a trailer, known as a ‘remorque monoroue,’ is offered, among others, by the French company Erdé. It goes without saying that a Renault 4CV Découvrable paired with a single-wheel trailer makes for an unusual and highly exclusive sight on the road, attracting even more attention and consistently receiving positive reactions.
This Renault 4CV Découvrable with remorque monoroue Erdé is registered in Belgium. The Belgian owner purchased the Renault 4CV Grand Luxe Découvrable in 2016 in Switzerland. In February 2017, a comprehensive restoration was initiated, which included a bare-metal respray in the original color, new interior upholstery, and a complete engine overhaul. The restoration was completed in May 2019. During this period, the trailer was also acquired and incorporated into the restoration. A detailed photo report of the entire restoration process is included with the car.
It will come as no surprise that the Renault is in excellent condition. The 748 cc four-cylinder engine delivers 21 hp and starts immediately. The three-speed manual gearbox is synchronized on the 2nd and 3rd gears, allowing for smooth and easy shifting. Theoretically, the car can reach a top speed of 100 km/h. This car, together with the trailer, is perfectly suited to provide plenty of driving pleasure and attract a lot of attention.
This vehicle is subject to VAT, which is deductable.
