The Volvo brand is best known for its angular and solid models, but in 1960 the brand unveiled a coupe at the Brussels Motor Show with a timeless and elegant design with flowing lines and sporty styling. The design is credited to Pelle Petterson, son of a Volvo designer. The P1800 gained fame for its excellent reliability. A 1966 model, driven by Irv Gordon, is included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the car with the most kilometers driven in the world with more than 5.2 million km (3.2 million miles). The P1800 gained even greater fame and a certain cult status through its role in the British TV series "The Saint" with Roger Moore as Simon Templar.

In 1969, the old 1.8-litre B18 engine was replaced by the 2.0-litre B20B four-cylinder. This increased the power from around 100 hp to 118 hp, making the car faster and more powerful and giving it a smoother ride due to better torque delivery. Furthermore, from 1969 onwards, the P1800 was fitted with disc brakes all round, which improved safety, and an improved suspension, making driving more comfortable. In 1970, fuel injection was introduced, which was made recognisable in the type designation by the addition of the letter ‘E’, P1800 E.

The Volvo offered by us, on behalf of a customer, is a P1800 E, so with the fine 2.0 liter injection engine and disc brakes all around. The car drives well and has a neat interior. The bodywork needs attention, welding work is expected on the underside. The price is based on that.

You are most welcome to come and view the car in Boxtel.
