The very first Jaguar E-Type was unveiled in 1961 and introduced as a rear-wheel-drive grand tourer, available as a two-seater coupé and two-seater convertible. A 2+2 coupé version was later added to the line-up. The model evolved into the “Series II” and eventually the “Series III,” with the earlier models later retroactively named “Series I” and “Series 1½.”
Series I cars were equipped with the legendary 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, also used in the XK150S, producing 265 hp and offering a top speed of 241 km/h. In the Series III, Jaguar introduced the powerful 5.3-liter V12 engine, replacing previous engines. With 272 hp, performance remained impressive, despite the larger size of the new model. The V12 was developed to outperform its V8 rivals from America and V12 competitors from Italy, and was especially praised for its smooth operation and high torque at low RPMs.

To accommodate the V12 engine, Jaguar extended the wheelbase of the Series III, which was offered exclusively as a 2+2 in coupé form. Though technically a four-seater, the rear seats are best suited for luggage, especially when the backrests are folded down.
The Series III is distinguished by its more luxurious and complete interior, disc wheels, subtly flared wheel arches, longer doors, a wider wheelbase, and additional air vents below the grille and in the bonnet. The grille itself is known as Jaguar’s “birdcage” design. The rear proudly wears the V12 badge, and the overall look is more muscular and substantial than previous generations.

This particular E-Type is fitted with an automatic transmission, making it especially pleasant to drive in modern traffic, further aided by power steering, electronic ignition, and ventilated disc brakes.
Thanks to its stunning design, solid performance, and competitive pricing at the time, the E-Type became one of the best-selling and most iconic sports cars of the 1960s. Its legendary reputation was cemented when none other than Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made.” Its graceful, elegant lines never fail to turn heads, and when combined with its V12 performance, the E-Type remains a true icon.

Only 5,182 left-hand-drive Series III V12 coupés were ever built, making this a rare and collectible machine.
The E-Type offered by Classic Park is in good condition and has recently received a major service. The car is being sold on behalf of a client and is registered with Dutch license plates.
