The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen from the W460 series was initially developed as a military vehicle. The W460 came onto the market in 1979 and heralded a long period of also luxury off-road vehicles in which the model became known as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W463). The G-Class was increasingly positioned as a very luxurious SUV while retaining four-wheel drive and off-road qualities. The G-Class has permanent four-wheel drive with selectable low gearing and three selectable differential locks. This allows the car to handle the toughest terrain conditions without any problems.
This Mercedes-Benz 230 GE belongs to the W463 series that came onto the market in 1990. It was the first version in which everything that had a spartan character was replaced by luxury following the example of the S-class. This is immediately noticeable, for example, in the wood inlay on the dashboard. Nevertheless, the car has permanent four-wheel drive with selectable low gearing and three selectable differential locks, which means it can handle the toughest terrain conditions without any problems. The 230 GE is the version with the most powerful four-cylinder petrol engine. This 230 GE is equipped with an electrically operated sliding/tilting roof and an automatic gearbox. The car is in good condition.
