The original 500 from Fiat needs no further introduction. Young and old grew up with it. The 500 is one of the true icons of the automotive world of the last century.
For some, the 500 Giardiniera is less well-known. The Italian word means “garden woman” and was used by Fiat to indicate a station wagon. “The 500 Giardiniera is a four-person car with space for 1 cubic meter or 200 kg of luggage,” the factory claimed.
This Giardiniera has been partially restored and has also been given a new roll-top roof. The roof can be opened over such a large area that it can almost be called a convertible. This 500 from 1974 has front doors that hinge at the rear. Because the engine in this model is built in under the loading space, Fiat has indeed managed to create a miraculous amount of space. It is estimated that approximately 327,000 Giardinieras were produced. Only a small part of them have been preserved, which makes it a striking and sympathetic appearance.
