The Westfield GTM Sports Spyder was born from a collaboration between two British kit car manufacturers: GTM Cars and Westfield Sports Cars. GTM Cars was known for its focus on lightweight construction and performance design, while Westfield Sports Cars was known for producing kit cars with high-quality, comfortable driving characteristics. The collaboration of these two manufacturers resulted in the "Westfield GTM Sports Spyder". Production of the GTM Sports Spyder began in the late 1990s.
The GTM Spyder is designed as a two-seater sports car with a soft top. The design is streamlined and sporty, with an emphasis on light weight and agility. The GTM uses a chassis made of aluminum and steel tubes, which results in extra rigidity and low weight. This low weight is beneficial for the overall performance and handling of the car. With only 30 units produced, the car is an absolute rarity, which results in a lot of attention.
The 1.8 liter 160hp strong VVC engine is carefully positioned for the ideal weight distribution. Due to the low total weight of only 770 kg and the sporty design, the GTM Sports Spyder can deliver impressive performance. With the great power to weight ratio, the car can offer fast acceleration and good cornering performance, making it a very suitable car for car enthusiasts who are looking for an exciting driving experience. The acceleration to 100 km/h is done within about 6 seconds and the top speed is 220 km/h.
The Westfield GTM Sports Spyder is described by experts as a mix of a Lotus Super Seven and a Lotus Elise. The popularity of the car was mainly a result of its unique combination of performance, lightweight construction and striking design. The road holding is phenomenal, and more comfortable than an Elise. The two Recaro bucket seats and the leather and alcantara interior fit perfectly with the sporty character, that is further enhanced by the 17 inch light-alloy ANZIO rims and the metal sports pedals. The extra luggage space makes the car suitable for a wonderful weekend of driving.
