The BMW 5-series has always belonged to the higher class of 4-door sedans with a representative appearance and appealing engines. The 5-series has also managed to acquire an important position in business traffic in particular.
Although the models have always had excellent sales results, it is still very special to find well-preserved examples that are over 40 years old. The BMW 525i at Classic Park is one such astonishingly good survivor. This 525i is from the E28 series that came onto the market in 1981 as the successor to the E12 series and as the second generation BMW 5-series. The E28 series was built until 1989 and was produced no less than 722,000 times.
The E28 was available with various 4- and 6-cylinder engines. The 525i with the 2494 cc V6 injection engine was one of the most popular models, with 54,063 units sold.
The 525i at Classic Park is finished in the then popular colour Opalgrün metallic. The car has matching green leatherette upholstery in the interior. The 525i was delivered new in Germany and has been registered in the Netherlands since 2008. Since then, the car has had only one owner who has cherished the car as well as the documentation. Apart from the right front wing and a small spot repair, the car still has its first paint. A look under the bonnet, the later mounted and well-maintained BBS rims, the toolkit under the boot lid, everything underlines the care and attention that this car has always had. As an extra at the time, the car was equipped with a five-speed gearbox and rear headrests. The documentation consists of thick folders with even the original brochures, manuals, numerous invoices, valuation reports and other documents. This car could still serve for many years as daily transport, but also fits into any classic car collection.
