Specific

This Mark V DHC of 27 March 1950 was originally delivered in the USA. In 1988 the car was exported to Belgium. This elegantly car was fully cosmetically restored in the 90's, after which it ended up at Classic Park in 2014. The next owner had the car technically completely overhauled by LMB Racing, including a complete engine and brake overhaul worth over € 28,000. As a result, the car is both cosmetically and technically in excellent condition. Of the 1,000 MK V DHC's produced, about 30% are left, of which this one with its 3.5L 6-cylinder engine belongs to the absolute top. The car is equipped with beautiful leather upholstery and a very nice walnut veneer dashboard. The entire instrument panel is kept central and the numbers and letters on the instruments have a special design.

General

The Jaguar MK V was the first new post-war Jaguar. The Mk V was more in line with the new post-war developments and modernity in terms of model and technology. In this new model, the aim was much more about aerodynamics and driving comfort. With this the MK V, Jaguar set a new standard.
In terms of lines, the Mk V was in line with the pre-war models, but it would be the last Jaguar model with running boards. Major changes had taken place in the window surface and in the sheet metal, as well as in the front. The headlights were completely incorporated into the body and the louvres in the hood had disappeared. The hinges of the doors were no longer protruded and the front and rear doors were now hinged to the same door jamb, with the hinges neatly concealed. Overall, the car had a much smoother finish, which clearly benefited the aerodynamics.

The chassis had also undergone significant changes. For example, it was the first Jaguar with an independent suspension with torsion bar suspension and a stabilizer bar at the front. The entire chassis was strongly reinforced to prevent torsion. Furthermore, completely new brakes were fitted in the form of hydraulic Girlings all around. Another important change were the 5 inch wide rims, which were now made of pressed steel, and the special super-comfort Dunlop tires (6.70 x 16 inch), which gave a particularly pleasant ride.
The car is equipped with beautiful leather upholstery and a beautifully executed walnut veneer dashboard. The entire instrument panel has been kept central and the numbers and letters on the instruments have a special design. The DHC version of the Mk V is a two-door version, with large, wide-opening doors to facilitate entry to the rear. The profile of the DHC is even "sleek" than that of the saloon. The hood can be opened in two positions; completely open and in a so-called "de ville" position where it is half open.
