Fully equipped and ready for combat. This robust and powerful-looking Willys Jeep, which is literally loaded with (original) WWII equipment, doesn’t show its nearly eighty years of age at all. It has been restored with the greatest attention to detail and with respect for its history. It was left by the American liberators in Holland in 1945 and revamped in the 1950s by a British company. Only two Dutch enthusiasts have owned the jeep since, each of them for a period of 30 years. The second Dutch owner started the extensive restoration in the 1990s. Engine, chassis and bodywork are original Willys Overland. This in itself is already special, but even more exceptional are the original bronze parts used, such as the dashboard gauge rings, the gear lever knob and the antenna mount. Further equipment includes a tow bar at the front, a gun pedestal, jerrycans, steel plates, camouflage nets, tools and both summer and winter doors. A second petrol tank is mounted under the passenger seat. One of the most special features however is the ‘paratrooper steering wheel’ that can be mounted and dismounted in an instant for transport by plane. Needless to say that all this is original WWII equipment. Understandably, there are no guns with this jeep. However, an original WWII Bantam trailer is included in the sale. This combination will definitely turn heads wherever it goes, even at specialised WWII-themed meetings.
