This Jensen Interceptor II was registered for the first time on the first of August 1971. It is an original LHD car with sought after air-conditioning. The car is finished in Jenson Yellow with a black leather interior. This Jensen also has air-conditioning which is very sought-after due to the large amount of glass and the heat that comes off the big V8 upfront. The car was imported into the Netherlands in October of 1997 and since then the car has had 3 owners who kept the car in very nice condition. The car is in good condition and offers a great driving experience.

Jensen is a small British car manufacturer that manufactured sports cars and commercial vehicle’s between 1922 and 1976. Jensen also produced specialized bodywork for larger manufacturers next to building their own cars for which they used engines and mechanicals by Ford, Austin and Chrysler.

In 1966 Jensen introduced the Interceptor. This wasn’t the first time they used this name. Between 1950 and 1957 Jensen made a two door coupe and convertible called the Interceptor. It was built using mostly Austin mechanics and glass-reinforced plastic. Eventually only 88 examples were made. The new Interceptor went down a completely different route. The shooting brake shaped body was designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Italy rather than by its own design staff. The body was also made from metal, rather than glass-reinforced plastic. The early body’s were also made in Italy by Vignale, before Jensen took production in house.

The Interceptor’s engine came from Chrysler and for the Mark I and Mark II this was a 6.3L V8 and from 1971 on, together with the introduction of the Mark III, the 6.3L was replaced by a 7.2L V8. The Mark I was optionally available with a 4–speed manual transmission or a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic. From the Mark II on the manual transmission was dropped.

The Interceptor was presented as a luxurious grandtourer and was equipped as such, with electric windows, reclining front seats, a wooden steering wheel, a radio with double speakers and an electrical clock. For 1966 this was as good as the best of them. From 1968 on the Interceptor received power steering as standard and from 1969 on, with the introduction of the Mark II, air-conditioning became an optional extra. The Mark II also received a new front grille design, bumper and altered headlamps and taillights. The interior was altered to fit American standards.

In 1971 the Mark III was introduced showing a few minor changes. In 1974 Jensen tried to boost sales by offering an Interceptor convertible that would meet the demands of the American market. In 1975 a coupe version which was based on the convertible was produced, but unfortunately 1975 brought a worldwide recession which hit Jensen hard. As a result they had to close their doors in 1976. Even though the Interceptor remains an icon to this day.
