This Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 is and original LHD car that was delivered on the 20th of April 1959 in Los Angeles in the USA. The original colour of the car was Colorado Red with a grey interior. In 1990 the car was imported to the Netherlands where it was completely restored from 2008 to 2013. The car was repainted in a great silver and grey two tone colour combination and the interior was changed to a fitting terra brown colour. To finish the look of the car wire wheels were fitted. The engine was checked and a new gearbox with overdrive was fitted. This makes this Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 a great car for touring!
The Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 was made from August 1956 to March 1959. The car was the successor to the Austin Healey 100 BN1, Austin Healey’s first production model. The biggest change between the two was the six cylinder engine that replaced the original four cylinder engine. To achieve this the chassis had to be altered, the radiator had to be moved and the bonnet was fitted with a power bulge to accommodate the engine. The chassis was also extended by 5 cm to accommodate 2 backseats.
The bigger six cylinder engine which came from the Austin Westminster was fitted with an improved cylinder head and exhaust manifold, higher compression and bigger carburetors which gave the engine 15 more BHP. The 2639cc six cylinder in line engine gave it 117 BHP taking it to a top speed of 177 km/h. De car was a great success for Austin Healey with 11.294 made.
From March 1959 the 100/6 was replaced with the Austin Healey 3000 Mk I BT7/BN7.
