The basis of the Porsche RSR replica on offer at Classic Park, is a 911 3.0 SC from 1980. The current Dutch owner always desired to build a race car and started this project in 2011, together with Porsche experts and body panel specialists. The car was stripped, made bare and adjusted where necessary. The conversion to the distinct RSR look was done very professionally. The work included for instance replacement of the roof with a Kevlar one, a mega-job. The re-fuelling probe is placed in the center of the trunk-lid at the front of the car, just like the originals. The body was re-painted in "Yellow Green", a special and original Porsche color. The original 3.2 liter engine was replaced by a 3.6-liter one from a Porsche 964, for more power. A different air filter, spaghetti-manifold and power box were installed as well. Because of the increased power, the brakes and suspension were also adjusted. The shock absorbers for instance are Bilstein RSR coil-springs, exact replicas of the ones used by Porsche in the 70s. The perforated and ventilated Porsche 917 Turbo brake discs and calipers are new, like the Fuchs rims with official RSR dimensions.
The interior was made over in classic racing style with two seats in a classic design and four-point seatbelts, the glovebox compartment has been removed just like many original RSR's. A 10,000 rev counter was mounted as was a kill switch. The FIA approved, bolted roll cage was manufactured by OMP. Furthermore, this special racer has a hydraulic G50 gearbox, original Porsche differential lock, Wevo engine and gearbox supports, a large oil cooler front center and Michelin TB tires (approved for street use). Since the conversion, which was completed in 2013, only 2000 km were driven with the Porsche. This car is the subject of an extensive reportage in the RS Porsche Magazine (05/2012).
Should new owners want to race with the Porsche, they only need to replace the seats by FIA-approved ones. In short, this is the perfect mix of a street and track car (APK approved until May 2017). A rare specimen that will appeal to the real enthusiast immediately.
